The real story of halloween

This celebration began a long time ago. At the beginning where before was called the  Samhain festival in Ireland. They said that this night is when the spirits could be seen with live people for this  helping them not to get lost and find the light. live people had to be costume to not suffer any damage, because the channel between live people and dead people where they could be found, evil spirits also passed by. This day was celebrated on may 13, but when the pope Gregorio IV changed this pagan festival to a religious event, it moved to october 31, called this day as halloween (it means All Hallows Eve).

Although this is a religious event, people over time has been changing  many things, for example: decorate houses, make faces to the pumpkins and turn them into lanterns (this is common as it is a tradition brought from Ireland by the legend of Jack O'Lantern), costumes as whatever you want and can go trick-or-treating in everything houses. This date I consider that is very special for the children because they wait this day with longing for their costumes as they like it  and can go in many places, besides to eat a lot of candies all night. For adults this day also is great because they can costume too, and can go trick-or-treating, and at night they go to parties or give candies to children. in colombia it isn't very common that people decorate their houses for halloween, and only colombia people just decorate in december at  christmas. I would like people will decorate their houses because I think it's cool that they do that kind of things, but here people are very lazy and that's why I think they don't do it, also because it's not as celebrated as in other countries, like in Mexico or the United States.
